GPST Stage 3 Preparation
Applications for GP specialty training remain as
popular as ever in 2010, making prior preparation a must for those seeking an
offer from their first choice deanery. After the first two stages of the GPST
application process, the final and largest hurdle is the third stage which
involves three different exercises held over a single day.
Candidates will be judged by assessors on three
different exercises: a patient simulation exercise, group discussion, and
written prioritisation task. Excelling in each of these three assessments on
the day is vital for any applicant wishing to receive an offer from their ideal
GP specialty training program.
Our GPST / GPVTS Stage 3 Selection Course has been
freshly relaunched for the 2010 selection period to offer the best possible
preparation course available to applicants. Written and designed by GP
registrars recently successful in their own Stage 3 assessments, our acclaimed
course will leave you primed for all eventualities you may face on your
selection day.
Features of our one day course include:
·
In-depth analysis and role plays
of each of the three Stage 3 assessments: patient
simulation, group discussion and work prioritisation
·
Hone your consultation skills through a variety of role play scenarios
similar to those you can expect to face
·
Enhance your interpersonal and communication skills – learn how to be
assertive without being aggressive and how to show consideration during group
discussions
·
Learn workload prioritisation strategies – practice organising tasks
into order of urgency and learn how to justify your choices
·
Brush up on various hot topics
within primary care and the NHS: the daily work of a GP, NICE, clinical audit,
polyclinics, the Quality and Outcomes Framework, etc.
