#1 Foundation Programme Book
Your transition from Medical School to your first
year of foundation training can be an abrupt and startling one. Many medical
students with limited experience of clinical work can feel overwhelmed when
faced with the challenge of patient management. However, our foundation
handbook can help to alleviate your anxieties and ease your transition from
student to doctor.
The Essential Clinical Handbook for the Foundation
Programme is aimed at current foundation doctors and is applicable to clinical
medical students in many aspects as well. It provides an invaluable companion
to assist you in the day-to-day management of patients on the ward during your
foundation training.
Our foundation handbook is the first to clearly outline
how to gain the core clinical competencies required for successful completion
of the Foundation Programme. Written by doctors who have recently completed
their foundation training, it explains how to successfully manage all of the
common cases that you will face in your first years as a doctor.
The Essential Clinical Handbook for the Foundation
Programme:

Introduces the Foundation
Programme and what is expected of a new doctor, particularly in light of the

extensive list of differentials and conditions explained

ePortfolio is maintained properly to ensure successful completion of the
Foundation Programme

to start preparing now to ensure that you are fully prepared and have the
competitive edge for your CT / ST Application
The introduction of the ePortfolio as part of the
Foundation Programme has paved the way for foundation doctors to take charge of
their own learning and portfolio. Through following the expert guidance laid
down in this handbook you will give yourself the best possible chance of progressing
successfully through to CT / ST training.
With forewords by Sir Graeme Catto (former
